Wave is a balcony railing made entirely from flat metal pieces.
These are cut according to a digital plan and arranged so that together they create a curved shape.
Using computational design, we were able to automatically generate the design specifications, cutting instructions, and assembly information - without time-consuming manual work.

Challenge
When flat pieces are assembled into a curved shape, everything had to be manually measured, labeled, and converted into production data. This was time-consuming and prone to errors.
Solution
A digital system that automatically generates all necessary information from the designed shape: which pieces need to be cut, their sizes, and how they fit together.
